ABEOKUTA – In a decisive move to strengthen the foundational pillars of public education, the Ogun State Government has transitioned more than 300 temporary teachers under the Ogun Teachers Experience Acquisition Channel (OgunTEACh) into permanent civil service appointments.
The successful educators received their official employment letters during a symbolic presentation ceremony held at the headquarters of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The development directly fulfills a prior administrative guarantee to reward dedicated personnel at the conclusion of their two-year probationary service.
Transition to Professional Accountability
Addressing the newly minted civil servants, the Chairman of Ogun SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, characterized the recruitment milestone as a direct manifestation of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s vision to systematically eliminate manpower deficits in public schools.
Ifede praised the career teachers for their resilience, performance, and adaptability across classroom environments during their two-year stint, noting that their evaluation period is over and a higher standard of delivery is now required.

”Another phase begins today and it requires more dedication, unwavering commitment and hard work, as you are now full-fledged professional teachers,” Ifede stated. “You are expected to introduce innovative ideas and improve the standard of schools you are posted to. The ultimate goal is to ensure that every learner under your care can read, write, and communicate effectively.”
Workforce Scaling and Professional Registration
The structural impact of the intervention scheme was further highlighted by the Permanent Member IV of the Board, Rt. Hon. Akeem Balogun, who lauded the strategic deployment pipelines created by the board. To date, the broader OgunTEACh mechanism has actively engaged thousands of aspiring educators, acting as a crucial workforce buffer for grassroots academic institutions across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas.
To guarantee that classroom instruction matches national baseline benchmarks, the Coordinating Director of SUBEB, Mr. Femi Fatade, advised the newly regularized personnel to prioritize immediate regulatory compliance. He urged those holding National Certificate in Education (NCE) qualifications to systematically upgrade to degree levels and directed all beneficiaries to finalize their professional listings with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Furthermore, Fatade reminded the inductees that prompt submission of their official assumption-of-duty documentation to their respective local authorities remains mandatory to prevent administrative delays in salary processing.

Gratitude from the Classroom
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Michael Oladipo (from Odeda Local Government Area) and Miss Oluwakemi Odejimi (from Yewa South Local Government Area) expressed deep gratitude to the state government. They noted that the transition from a stipend-based internship to a secure, long-term career pathway would significantly boost morale across public primary school staff rooms.
The regularized educators pledged to deploy modernized pedagogy to enhance learning outcomes and secure basic literacy for pupils in underserved and rural areas.
