
KANO — Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, has officially assumed office as the 25th Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State. He takes over the mantle of leadership following a successful tenure as the AIG in charge of Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar.
Addressing officers, staff, and cadets during his inaugural address, AIG Musa expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for entrusting him with the vital responsibility. He placed personnel and cadet welfare at the forefront of his administration, while challenging the academy community to mirror this commitment through rigorous discipline, institutional dedication, and campus-wide sanitation.
Emphasizing the importance of synergy, the new Commandant vowed to bridge communication gaps to foster robust teamwork. He also paid glowing tribute to his predecessors, promising to build upon their foundational legacies to drive the academy toward world-class status.
With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, AIG Musa brings extensive operational and administrative expertise to the institution. Enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police, his professional journey encompasses high-level tactical operations, intelligence-driven investigations, and conflict resolution.
An erudite scholar and alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, he holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration. His professional training footprint is remarkably global, featuring certifications from the Nigeria Police Staff College Jos, the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, and the National Defence College Abuja.
Internationally, his credentials include professional development courses at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre in Ghana, the Pointsman Leadership Institute in the USA, Cranfield University in the UK, and specialized financial intelligence training in Rome, Italy.
His prior strategic command positions include serving as AIG Zone 6 Calabar, AIG Zone 3 Adamawa, Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State, Commandant of the Police College Maiduguri, and IGP Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, alongside various tactical, operational, and public relations assignments nationwide.
AIG Musa remains an active professional contributor to global security networks as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (MIACP), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (ANIPR), and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (MSPSP).
