As voters across Osun State head to the polls for the highly anticipated governorship election, political stakeholders have emphasized that the outcome will be defined by leadership capacity rather than temporary financial handouts.
Speaking in Osogbo, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye asserted that material enticements such as money, rice, and bread will not dictate the choice of the electorate. Characterizing the state’s population as politically conscious and intellectually sophisticated, Oyintiloye noted that citizens are increasingly focused on long-term democratic dividends rather than immediate gains.
While acknowledging that politicians frequently deploy material incentives during campaign cycles, he maintained that accepting such items does not bind a voter’s conscience at the ballot box. Instead, key performance indicators—including sound healthcare, qualitative education, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment—will heavily influence voters as they choose candidates capable of delivering sustainable progress.
