MANCHESTER, England — Michael Carrick has thrown his support behind Marcus Rashford ahead of the new Premier League campaign, describing the forward as a player capable of bringing a distinct edge to the side as Manchester United prepare for the season ahead.

ValidViewNetwork gathered that Carrick’s comments, shared in a post by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on X on Thursday, confirmed that Rashford has returned to the club in good condition and remains firmly part of his plans.

According to the post, Carrick said Rashford is “our player” and that he has “come back great,” adding that having known the forward for a long time, he brings the team “something a little bit different.”

Findings show the remarks carry particular weight given Rashford’s route back to Old Trafford. The England international spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona, having left Manchester United temporarily in search of regular first-team football.

Checks by ValidViewNetwork indicate his time in Spain gave him valuable exposure to Barcelona’s attacking system, playing at a high level throughout the campaign before his return to Manchester ahead of pre-season.

Carrick also struck an optimistic tone about the season as a whole, with his comments framed as part of a wider outlook on the squad’s readiness as the Premier League opener approaches.

His public backing of Rashford is widely read as a signal that the forward will be given a genuine opportunity to reestablish himself in the first-team picture, rather than facing a peripheral role following his season away.

As of this report, Manchester United have not issued a separate statement on Rashford’s specific role for the opening weeks of the campaign, with further clarity expected as pre-season fixtures continue.
