Former Kogi West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has broken his silence regarding public scrutiny over his immense wealth and penchant for luxury, revealing that his collection of antique and modern automobiles has surpassed the 200 mark.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on KaaTruths, Melaye defended his decades-long passion for high-end vehicles, dismissing critics who label his lifestyle insensitive amid economic challenges in Nigeria. He maintained that his car collection is a personal hobby cultivated over thirty years, independent of public office or government contracts.
”For some it’s diamonds, for some it’s luxury bags, for some shoes, for some watches. So my very primary passion is cars… outside utility vehicles in my collection, both the antique and modern audacious vehicles, I have over 200 and I’m still collecting more.”
Expanding Beyond Private Garage Storage
Moving past private ownership, the flamboyant politician announced a landmark project: the development of Africa’s first world-class automotive museum complex.
According to Melaye, a 40-hectare parcel of land has already been secured along Airport Road in Abuja for the sprawling project. He noted that his technical and architectural teams have traveled globally—inspecting Ferrari World in Dubai, the Monaco Auto Fair, and Formula 1 facilities in Europe—to model a world-class attraction tailored for the continent.
