The Nigeria Army’s 63 Brigade has made a significant discovery, uncovering an illegal gun manufacturing facility in Onicha Olona community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state.
Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, Commander of the 63 Brigade, disclosed this while inspecting the site of the illegal arms factory. According to him, the facility has the capability to produce ten guns weekly.
Among those apprehended at the factory were eight suspects, including the mastermind, his father, mother, and sister, all involved in the illicit family enterprise.

Located deep within a forest, the arms factory boasted surveillance equipment, a remote-connected generator, iron-melting oven, and a cache of arms and ammunition. Additionally, items used in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) such as shrapnels, detonators, and containers were recovered.
General Unachukwu emphasized that the activities of these suspects significantly contributed to insecurity in the region and the nation at large. He noted that only groups like IPOB and Eastern Security Network typically employ IEDs and drones in this area.
Furthermore, the prime suspect, 22-year-old Emmanuel Eboka, confessed to renting out some of the arms to criminal elements for a fee.
The discovery underscores ongoing efforts to combat crime and insecurity in the region.
