The Metropolitan Police in London have confirmed they are actively investigating reports that Prince Andrew sought personal details about Virginia Giuffre, his accuser, through his police protection officers in 2011. The British tabloid Mail on Sunday published a report alleging that the prince provided one of his protection officers with Giuffre’s date of birth and social security number to facilitate an inquiry. However, it is not suggested that the officer complied with the request.
This development follows Buckingham Palace’s announcement on October 17, 2025, that Prince Andrew agreed to stop using all his remaining royal titles, including the Duke of York, amid ongoing public and family pressure stemming from his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew’s titles had already been stripped in stages since 2019, with military roles and patronages revoked in 2022 after he settled a lawsuit filed by Giuffre.

Virginia Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide earlier this year, had accused Epstein of trafficking her to Prince Andrew for sexual abuse when she was 17. Andrew has consistently denied meeting Giuffre or committing any wrongdoing. Still, he settled the legal case out of court in 2022 without admitting liability.
Giuffre’s family, responding to the latest revelations, called for a full investigation into how Andrew obtained their loved one’s confidential information, criticizing the attempts to discredit her and other survivors. Meanwhile, Giuffre’s memoir “Nobody’s Girl,” detailing her experience, is set for posthumous release on October 21, 2025.
In a personal statement, Prince Andrew said the ongoing accusations distracted from the work of King Charles III and the Royal Family and that, with the King’s agreement, he would no longer use his royal titles or honours, reaffirming his denial of all accusations.
This police probe marks the latest chapter in the prolonged controversy surrounding Prince Andrew and his fallout from association with Jeffrey Epstein and the broader Epstein case, thrusting the royal family once again into the international spotlight .
