The Ogun State government has initiated the distribution of the promised ten thousand naira to parents of primary and secondary school children, as part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s effort to alleviate economic hardship.
Parents from various schools across the state expressed gratitude as they received the cash intended to support indigent learners.
According to Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, the Ogun Educash initiative targets one hundred thousand students in primary and secondary schools, as well as sixty thousand indigenes at tertiary institutions.
He clarified that while the primary and secondary school assistance is available to all residents of Ogun State, the tertiary support is specifically for indigenes.
Professor Arigbabu emphasized that the selection process for indigent learners was conducted by teachers and school principals, ensuring that all submitted names will be considered.

He urged parents to utilize the cash award for their children’s educational needs.
Parents at various schools, including Abeokuta Grammar School and Baptist Boys High School Saje, expressed appreciation for Governor Abiodun’s initiative, viewing it as a testament to the government’s dedication to education and student support.
Principals of these schools outlined the process of identifying indigent learners, underscoring the importance of assisting students in need.
The distribution exercise was monitored across several schools, including Abeokuta Grammar School, Baptist Boys High School Saje, Saje High School, Ebenezer Grammar School Iberekodo, Unity High School Ago-Ika, St Peter’s College Olomore, African Church Grammar School Ita-Eko, and Agunbiade Victory High School Magbon.
