Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, remains in custody after his failure to fulfill bail requirements granted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday.
The EFCC’s Lagos State Command arrested and detained Bobrisky on allegations of abusing the Nigerian currency, including spraying and mutilating naira notes.
Confirming the situation, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated in a Thursday evening interview with our correspondent that Bobrisky had been granted administrative bail but had not yet met the conditions.

Earlier, Oyewale had announced Bobrisky’s arrest, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations against him and the EFCC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the Nigerian currency. He disclosed that Bobrisky would be charged to court as the investigation progresses.
Subsequently, the EFCC released a statement titled “EFCC Grills Bobrisky for Naira Abuse” on its social media platforms, outlining the details of the investigation. The statement mentioned Bobrisky’s alleged act of flaunting and spraying new Naira notes at a movie premiere on March 24, 2024, as well as similar incidents at other venues.
Bobrisky presented himself for questioning at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Wednesday morning and provided his statements. Upon the conclusion of investigations, he is expected to face charges in court.
