Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has lauded the economic policies introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating that Nigeria has now become a globally marketable brand.
He emphasized the role of public relations practitioners in projecting Nigeria’s renewed hope agenda and attracting investments to boost the economy.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Nigeria Public Relations Week in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun highlighted the need for public relations specialists to promote Nigeria’s positive image and showcase the potentials of Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun stated, “The power of public relations is essential for fostering development and sustainable growth, as emphasized by this week’s theme.
The current leadership under President Tinubu is determined to change the narrative and establish Nigeria as a promising country with a focus on sustainability.”
He cited the appointment of Mr. Yemi Cardoso as the CBN Governor and the successful management of forex as examples of the renewed focus on public relations policies to drive positive change.
Abiodun noted that economic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira have started yielding positive results, leading to the appreciation of the local currency.
The governor described public relations as a strategic communication tool that plays a critical role in shaping perceptions, building confidence, and driving economic growth.
He called on practitioners to help project a positive image of both the state and the country.
Highlighting the state government’s achievements, Governor Abiodun mentioned the construction of over 500 kilometers of roads, rehabilitation of over 100 Primary Health Centres, construction of over 4,000 affordable houses, and efforts to enhance security by equipping security agencies with modern gadgets and patrol vehicles.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammed Idris, represented by Alhaji Isa Lanre Onilu, Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), emphasized the importance of communication in achieving Nigeria’s collective vision.
President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Ike Neliaku, stressed the role of public relations in managing reputation and perception, noting that practitioners worldwide are making significant contributions.
Governor Abiodun was conferred the title of Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and donated a brand new bus and a secretariat to the Ogun branch of the institute.
