The Provost of Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, has urged newly admitted students to reset their mindsets and commit to a disciplined attitude essential for academic and professional excellence.
Speaking at the orientation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, Professor Akewushola emphasized the importance of self-belief, positive thinking, and aligning one’s behavior with the ethical standards expected of future healthcare professionals. He underscored LASCOHET’s strict policies against misconduct, warning that violations of the College’s Code of Conduct would be met with firm disciplinary actions.

“The orientation is designed to familiarize students with the College’s rules, culture, and expectations so they begin their academic journey on a solid foundation,” he explained. He encouraged students to cultivate a strong work ethic from day one, avoid behaviors that could harm their progress, and ensure punctuality, regular attendance, and timely fee payments.
“You possess the potential for greatness. Believe in yourself and in this institution. Stay focused, and your efforts will be rewarded,” Professor Akewushola affirmed.

Honourable Samuel Olawale Kappo, Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Students Affairs and Tertiary Education, also addressed the students. He cautioned against drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other disciplinary breaches that could derail their futures. Honourable Kappo stressed that maintaining discipline is a shared responsibility between students and management and urged the student body to report any suspicious or inappropriate conduct immediately.

Dr. Oluwaseyi Gabriel Adeware, Provost of De-Potter College of Health Technology in Ogun State, who was present at the event, reminded students to value the privilege of admission into LASCOHET, describing it as a critical step towards becoming skilled and respected healthcare professionals.

This orientation marks the beginning of LASCOHET’s continued commitment to nurturing competent health experts poised to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
