A California mother who hosted alcohol-fueled parties and facilitated sexual interactions among teenagers has received the maximum prison sentence.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, a judge sentenced Shannon O’Connor, 43, of Los Gatos, to 35 years and 10 months in state prison. The sentencing followed days of emotional and harrowing victim impact statements from the young women and families whose lives were upended by her actions.
”I Am Ashamed” — O’Connor Addresses the Court
Breaking her silence for the first time since the judicial proceedings began, O’Connor addressed her victims directly after the judgment was handed down.
”My actions are the cause for your pain and I am ashamed. And I face every day knowing that I was the cause,” O’Connor told the courtroom. “I am not sorry for myself, I am sorry for all of you and what I put you through. But as I look at you all today, I hope you can find some comfort knowing that I have been punished and will continue to be for years to come.”
The apology offered little solace to the victims’ families, who had spent the week delivering grueling testimonies about the lasting trauma O’Connor inflicted.
Days of Devastating Victim Testimony
The final sentencing phase concluded after three additional victim statements were presented on Thursday, building upon eight statements delivered on Wednesday and several others on Tuesday.
Prosecutors detailed a disturbing pattern of behavior where O’Connor used her home to host parties for her teenage son. During these gatherings, she actively encouraged minors to consume high volumes of alcohol and engage in sexual behavior, even going so far as to facilitate the encounters by providing condoms. In the aftermath of the parties, O’Connor reportedly harassed the teenagers via text messages, prying into their private lives and manipulating them.
The mother of two victims, identified in court as Jane Doe 8 and Jane Doe 9, delivered a blistering statement directly to the defendant.
”When people call you a monster, pedophile, rapist, they had it right,” she said. “You preyed upon my daughter by supplying her alcohol, enticing sexual situations, and pushing her when she was not in a place to consent.”
Maximum Penalty for Lasting Trauma
The young women and their families had fiercely lobbied the court for the maximum allowable penalty, describing a profound, permanent erosion of trust and psychological well-being.
The prosecution successfully argued that O’Connor abused her position of trust as a parent, transforming her suburban home into a predatory environment. With her felony convictions carrying a maximum term, the judge’s decision to enforce the full 35 years and 10 months ensures that O’Connor will spend decades behind bars for her role in exploiting local youth.
