WASHINGTON — A newly released 53-page congressional staff report has thrust Donald Trump back into the center of fierce political and legal controversy, following detailed allegations of rape brought forward by a former beauty pageant contestant.
The document, published on Monday by Democratic minority staff of the House Judiciary Committee, forms part of an expansive legislative inquiry into Trump’s historical connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
At the center of the report’s most severe allegations is Beatrice Keul, a former model and Miss Switzerland. According to the congressional document, Keul alleges that Trump sexually assaulted her in November 1993 at New York’s Plaza Hotel, which he owned at the time.
An Encounter at the Plaza
In her testimony to committee investigators, Keul—who was 24 years old at the time of the alleged incident—recalled meeting Trump during a pageant event. She stated that Trump approached her, offering to assist her in securing a U.S. visa and gaining admission to New York University (NYU), telling her, “I will take care of you.”
The report further alleges that Keul was subsequently approached by Jeffrey Epstein, who claimed to be a close associate of Trump and invited her to a gathering at Mar-a-Lago. According to the testimony, a representative for Trump later directed Keul to an upper-floor suite in the Plaza Hotel, where the alleged assault took place.
Keul described the encounter as a brutal attack, alleging that Trump physically overpowered her before reiterating promises regarding her education and visa conditional on her silence. She stated she returned to Switzerland shortly after and later declined subsequent contact and offers from Trump.
Swift Denials from the White House
The White House issued an immediate and categorical rejection of the report’s contents, characterizing the document as a partisan maneuver designed to undermine the administration.
In a statement responding to the publication, White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis denounced the findings:
“None of these allegations are true. This ‘report’ is nothing more than a desperate attempt by crazed Democrats to distract Americans from the surging Republican momentum driven by President Trump’s historic achievements,” Bis said.
“The President kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club at Mar-a-Lago because he was a creep, and he has been fully exonerated of anything related to Epstein.”
Trump has consistently maintained that he severed ties with Epstein years before criminal charges were brought against the financier, frequently asserting that he barred Epstein from his Florida property due to inappropriate behavior.
Broader Implications
Legal analysts note that the release of the House Judiciary minority staff report carries no direct judicial weight, as Trump has not been criminally charged in connection with these specific allegations. However, the document adds to a mounting body of congressional scrutiny regarding the social circles shared by prominent figures and modeling networks during the 1990s.
The investigation is expected to remain a focal point of partisan debate on Capitol Hill as lawmakers clash over the scope and motivations behind the House committee’s findings.
