Crystal Hefner Alleges Mistreatment During Marriage to Late Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner

​LOS ANGELES — Crystal Hefner, widow of the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has come forward with serious allegations regarding her marriage, describing experiences of deep discomfort, distress, and non-consensual encounters.

​During a recent appearance on the Lisa Guerrero Unleashed podcast, the 40-year-old opened up about the dynamics of her relationship with the publishing mogul. Reflecting on the marriage, she shared that she frequently felt pressured to comply with her husband’s demands, stating that she felt an overriding obligation to fulfill his expectations regardless of her own feelings.

​“I do believe that I did whatever he wanted me to do. And if that involved sex, then I just did what he wanted me to do,” Crystal Hefner told the podcast host.

​Recalling specific intimate encounters as painful and distressing, she openly questioned whether certain situations crossed the line into sexual assault—a characterization that host Lisa Guerrero suggested and Crystal subsequently agreed with.

​Beyond her own experiences, Crystal made additional allegations regarding Hugh Hefner’s behavior toward others during their time together. She claimed that he attempted to pressure twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon into inappropriate sexual activity with one another, describing witnessing the alleged dynamic as deeply disturbing.

​Furthermore, Crystal alleged that the late founder used unhygienic intimate items during encounters, which left her physically uncomfortable.

​The couple wed in December 2012 and remained married until Hugh Hefner passed away at the age of 91 in September 2017. Crystal has since moved forward with her life, marrying marine biologist James Ward in April 2026.

​The revelations add to a growing body of public scrutiny and memoirs from former associates surrounding the culture of the Playboy Mansion following Hefner’s death. Representatives and estate executors for Hugh Hefner have not yet issued a formal public statement responding to these latest claims.
