The Lamine Yamal Ballon d’Or reaction is calm and patient. The 19-year-old Barcelona forward says his time will come after finishing third in the 2026 rankings.
Yamal posted a message on Instagram less than 24 hours after Harry Kane won the award. He wrote that good things take time and that he trusts the path he is building.
ValidViewNetwork reports that he also congratulated the winners.
HIS RESPONSE
Yamal stressed that his focus is on helping Barcelona win trophies again. He wrote that he wants to go forward without hurry, with excitement and calm assurance that one day his time will come.
HOW THE VOTE FELL
Kane, 33, took the 2026 prize ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Yamal.
He is the first Englishman to win in 25 years. He scored 73 goals in 65 games for Bayern Munich and England last season. Bayern swept the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the German Super Cup.
Mbappe, 27, finished second after strong play at Real Madrid and France without piling up trophies. Mbappe’s runner-up finish was overtaken within hours by his China crisis.
Chinese platform Dongqiudi replaced his name in the Ballon d’Or ranking with a phrase meaning “this person does not exist.”
YAMAL’S CONSOLATION
Yamal won best young talent for a third straight year. He was a key part of the Spain side that won the 2026 World Cup, though he scored one goal after returning from injury.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, who won coach of the year, predicted he will win many Ballons d’Or and more team trophies.
The 70th ceremony was held at London’s Palladium Theatre, the first outside France.
At 19, Yamal has three young talent awards and years of top-three finishes ahead. The Lamine Yamal Ballon d’Or story is one of patience, not of defeat. ValidViewNetwork reports.
