The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, led the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the first flyover in Ile-Ife, situated at Lagere Junction, at a cost of N14.9 billion.
The event, attended by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and top officials of the administration, marked the commencement of a project awarded to Messrs. Sammya Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of 12 months.
Governor Adeleke also announced the commencement of rehabilitation work on 55.86km of local government roads across Ife land, costing N30.6 billion.

He highlighted various completed road rehabilitation projects in the four local government areas of Ife land and pledged to enhance infrastructural development, recognizing Ile-Ife’s significance as the cradle of the Yoruba race.
Addressing attendees, Adeleke emphasized the importance of compliance with due process and procurement laws in awarding the flyover bridge project.
He urged contractors and community residents to collaborate closely for successful project execution.
In his remarks, Oba Ogunwusi praised Adeleke’s efforts to upgrade infrastructural amenities in Ile-Ife and urged him to consider rehabilitating other roads in poor condition across the Ife metropolis.
He emphasized the importance of completing the flyover project and urged the governor not to merely initiate but to ensure its successful execution.
