Nigeria’s football administration is facing a fresh accountability test as the EFCC and ICPC investigate the use of a ₦12 billion Federal Government intervention fund released to the Nigeria Football Federation.
The money was intended to address players’ wages, bonuses and other outstanding obligations. ValidViewNetwork reports that NFF officials have been summoned by the two anti-graft agencies.
The investigation could become one of the most consequential financial examinations of Nigerian football in recent years. The critical issue is not merely where the money went, but whether the spending matched the purpose for which public funds were released.
