What was supposed to be a step toward a better life for 30-year-old Abosede Adesanya and her five children ended in a horrific act of violence. Kazeem Adebayo, 47, a resident of Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, is currently in police custody following the gruesome discovery of Abosede’s body buried in a shallow grave—inside his own bedroom.
The Plot of Greed
The tragedy began when Abosede’s 84-year-old mother, Amoke, sold a plot of land to fund the construction of a modest two-bedroom flat. Adebayo, who was in a relationship with Abosede, had positioned himself as a trusted confidant, even signing as a witness during the land sale documents.
Exploiting this trust, Adebayo lured Abosede to his house under the guise of helping her secure a new property. He instructed her to bring the ₦530,000 cash realized from the sale.
A Brutal End
Upon her arrival, the atmosphere of romance turned lethal. Adebayo allegedly attacked the mother of five, striking her over the head with a heavy wooden pestle. Despite her cries for help, Abosede succumbed to her injuries.
In a calculated attempt to hide his crime, Adebayo:
- Buried the victim in a shallow grave dug within his room.
- Hid ₦500,000 of the stolen money in his ceiling.
- Used ₦30,000 to immediately settle a personal debt.
Investigation and Discovery
When Abosede failed to return home, her frantic mother reached out to Adebayo. He initially denied any knowledge of her whereabouts, maintaining a calm facade even as a formal report was lodged with the police.
The breakthrough came when the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). During a forensic search of Adebayo’s residence, detectives noticed irregularities on the floor of his room. The subsequent excavation revealed Abosede’s remains, ending a desperate search with a tragic confirmation.
”He didn’t just take her life; he took the future of five children and the peace of an 84-year-old woman,” a community member remarked during the police briefing.
The suspect is expected to be charged with murder and armed robbery as soon as investigations are concluded.
