Ondo Governor Pledges Stronger Support for Businesses

The Ondo State government is doubling down on its commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa vowing to provide a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.The governor made this pledge on Friday when he hosted two state residents who recently won prestigious national awards at the Presidency’s National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) awards in Abuja.

The awardees, Engr. Emmanuel Adewumi of Denki Wires and Cables and Mr. Femi Olufunmiloye of Lafbart Innovations & Consulting Ltd., were honored for their excellence in manufacturing and tax compliance, respectively.Governor Aiyedatiwa, who commended the entrepreneurs for showcasing Ondo State on a national stage, highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to empower the business community. He revealed that his government disbursed over N220 million in support to micro and small businesses last year and promised to further boost local enterprises through government patronage.

Expanded MSME Clinic to Boost Local Economy

In a significant move to bolster the state’s economy, Ondo is set to host the 7th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Akure on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The event, which is expected to be attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, is designed to serve as a crucial link between the federal government, state government, and local businesses.

These clinics are part of a nationwide initiative to improve the ease of doing business by bringing together relevant regulatory agencies and providing a “one-stop-shop” for small businesses to consult and resolve issues. The program will focus on key areas of MSME development, including funding, skill development, infrastructure, and access to markets. By providing a platform for businesses to exhibit their products, gain access to on-site investments, and connect with various government agencies, the clinic aims to drive growth, foster innovation, and create jobs.
