The Federal Government has announced significant progress in the Lagos-Kano narrow gauge rail line project, revealing plans to commence freight services along the route.
During a visit to the project site in Kano State, on Thursday, Minister of Transportation Saidu Alkali disclosed that the line has been connected to the Zawaciki Dala Dry Port in Kano, a key commercial center in the state.

Alkali emphasized the importance of the project in promoting safer and more sustainable transportation solutions across the country.
Acknowledging the progress made since his last visit, Alkali expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and the quality of construction.
He outlined plans to segment the project to facilitate faster and more efficient completion, with specific timelines allocated for different sections of the rail line.

With the commencement of freight services, the Lagos-Kano rail line is poised to play a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods and enhancing economic activities along its route.
