Cardiff-born actor Owain Rhys Davies, best known for his role as FBI Agent Wilson in David Lynch’s critically acclaimed revival Twin Peaks: The Return, has died suddenly at the age of 44, his family announced Tuesday.
In a heartfelt statement shared via Instagram on Sunday, May 31, Davies’ brother Rhodri, along with their father Conway, confirmed the Welsh actor’s passing while noting that questions remain about the circumstances surrounding his death.
“It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,” Rhodri wrote. “This news will come as a great shock to many. The reach of Owain’s love, friendship, and generosity was vast”.
Unanswered Questions About Death
While the family has not released a specific cause of death, Rhodri clarified that “our understanding at this stage is that Owain passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully,” though he acknowledged “there are still questions that remain unanswered” regarding the circumstances. No official obituary or cause of death has been released yet, according to ACTRA Toronto, which confirmed the actor’s death online.
Davies died last week, though the exact date has not been disclosed.
