Security: Olorunda LCDA Boss Debunks False Bandit Attack Claims in Oko-Afo

​LAGOS — The Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Peter Ajose, has strongly debunked viral social media reports alleging an invasion by bandits in the Oko-Afo area of the council.

​In an official statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, the council boss described the circulating security alerts as completely unfounded, malicious, and deliberately orchestrated to incite panic, fear, and unnecessary tension among law-abiding residents.

​No Security Breach in Olorunda

​”The council wishes to categorically state that this report is entirely false and does not contain any iota of truth. There has been no such attack or security breach in Oko-Afo or any part of Olorunda LCDA,” Ajose stated.

​The council chairman noted that his attention was drawn to several misleading posts across various social media platforms claiming that armed bandits—with some online narratives adding sensitive ethnic colorations—had infiltrated the community. He admonished the public to disregard the false information in its entirety.

​Strengthened Security Network

​Reassuring the populace of their safety, Ajose emphasized that his administration maintains an unyielding commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the locality. He disclosed that the local council has actively upgraded its internal security architecture to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

​”We are working closely with the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the council area,” the chairman said.

​He further revealed that the council recently established a well-equipped Joint Task Force (JTF). The special security unit operates in direct collaboration with regular police formations and has been strategically stationed across critical flashpoints to maintain peace and enforce order throughout Olorunda.

​Call for Calm and Verification

​According to the council boss, the overall security situation across the communities remains calm, stable, and under complete control. He urged residents to go about their daily economic and social activities without any fear of molestation.

​He, however, reminded members of the community to remain highly vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or unusual gatherings to the nearest security authorities.

​Warning against the dangers of spreading unverified information, Ajose said, “The council urges members of the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it and refrain from spreading unverified reports capable of causing public anxiety. Olorunda LCDA remains peaceful, secure, and safe for all residents.”
