OSOGBO, Osun State — In our morning edition earlier today, ValidViewNetwork reported that the Department of State Services had alerted Muslim and Christian leaders in Osun State to an alleged terrorist plot targeting places of worship, markets and other public gathering centres ahead of the 2027 elections.
At the end of that report, we asked a simple question: What is the government doing to prevent the attack, rather than simply warning about it?
By Sunday afternoon, we had an answer.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or individuals to security agencies.
He disclosed that he would convene an emergency State Security Council meeting to assess the security situation and examine the effectiveness of the state’s response plans.
“We must provide the police and other security agencies with intelligence reports on noticeable threats in our communities. As we are aware of alleged plots to attack our places of worship, we must become extra vigilant. Report anything unusual without any delay,” Adeleke said.
The governor commended the DSS for taking proactive measures to counter the threats and charged other security agencies to review the situation and develop an action plan to strengthen the security of lives and property.

He also called on traditional rulers to host their council meetings on the development, stressing that the evil plans of “enemies of public peace” must be nipped in the bud.
The DSS had earlier informed the leadership of the Osun Muslim Community and the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state that intelligence pointed to a plan by terrorists to mobilise to states in the South-West and cause mayhem as part of a plot to cause voter apathy in the 2027 elections.
