ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant restructuring of key federal agencies, appointing Senator Ibrahim Ida as the new Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominating seven new commissioners to the National Population Commission (NPC).
The announcement, contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, underscores the administration’s drive to inject “extensive experience” into the nation’s regulatory and data-management frameworks.
New Leadership at CAC
Senator Ibrahim Ida, a seasoned administrator and finance expert, assumes the chairmanship of the CAC with a background spanning the legislative and executive arms of government. Representing Katsina Central in the Senate in 2017, Ida previously served as the Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and as a Permanent Secretary within the Federal Civil Service.
An alumnus of the University of Ibadan, where he earned an MSc in Banking and Finance, and the University of Abuja (LLB), Ida is expected to spearhead reforms in corporate registration and ease-of-doing-business initiatives.
Strengthening the National Population Commission
In a move to bolster the National Population Commission ahead of future demographic exercises, the President nominated seven individuals to fill vacant commissioner roles. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The nominees and their respective states are:
- Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti)
- Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara)
- Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi)
- Dr. Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara)
- Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina)
- Suleiman Umar (Jigawa)
- Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto)
Mr. Onanuga noted that these nominations are intended to complement the existing 17 federal commissioners who were previously sworn in to ensure a full constitutional quorum for the commission.
Other Key Appointments
Beyond the CAC and NPC, the President expanded his administrative team with the following appointments:
1.Dr. Yusuf Mohammed: Appointed as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo. A Kano State indigene, Dr. Mohammed is expected to bring academic and administrative vigor to the institution.

2.Bala Bello: Confirmed as the Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy. Bello, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Executive Director at NEXIM Bank, will provide strategic counsel on the intersection of political strategy and economic reform.
”President Tinubu strongly believes in the capacities of these appointees to further the administration’s commitment to a better lease of life for all Nigerians,” the Presidency stated.
The new appointees are expected to resume their duties immediately following the necessary legislative clearances where applicable.
