MAKURDI — Security and public safety within Benue State experienced a major boost following a high-stakes confrontation in Mbajir, located within the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, where an incoming terror cell was severely fractured.
Local vigilance paid off drastically when an advancing group of nine suspected bandits covertly infiltrated the peaceful community with sinister motives to wreak havoc and subvert public security. However, alertness triumphed as proactive community members mobilized swiftly, intercepting the criminal element before they could execute their nefarious plans.
Outnumbered and cornered, eight of the nine suspects were successfully apprehended on the spot, while a manhunt is actively underway to track down the fleeing accomplice. Preliminary disclosures from the ground indicate a mixed composition among the captured cell: seven of the suspects hail from the Tiv ethnic nationality, while the remaining member belongs to the Jukun community, highlighting a multi-ethnic alignment in the foiled plot.
