Nollywood actress Doris Ogala on Friday knelt before a Federal High Court in Lagos to apologise for her unruly behaviour during an earlier sitting, as Justice Akintayo Aluko reserved ruling on her bail application until November 6, 2026.
Ogala, who faces charges bordering on alleged cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and attempted extortion involving Pastor Chris Okafor, was returned to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after the proceedings, ValidViewNetwork reports.
THE APOLOGY
“I am very sorry, my Lord. I apologise for my bad behaviour. I have never been to prison before and I wasn’t expecting that I would do that,” Ogala told the court, promising not to repeat the conduct that saw her shout and sing in the courtroom on Wednesday, forcing proceedings to stop.
THE JUDGE’S REBUKE
Justice Aluko said her behaviour prevented the court from hearing more than seven other cases and could have attracted at least two months’ imprisonment for contempt.
The judge’s warning was stern, but he accepted her apology and allowed the bail application to proceed.
THE BAIL ARGUMENT
The prosecution urged the court to impose stringent bail conditions, citing concerns that her social media activity could influence witnesses.
Her lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, argued for reasonable terms and indicated plans to petition the Attorney-General to withdraw the charges.
WHY IT MATTERS
Doris Ogala is a public figure. She has a platform and a following. But in a courtroom, she is just a defendant.
Her outburst on Wednesday was an attempt to use her celebrity to intimidate the court. It failed. Her apology on Friday was a recognition that the law does not bend to fame.
The judge has reserved his ruling on bail. Until then, Ogala will remain in Kirikiri. The law will take its course. ValidViewNetwork reports.
