African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has finally broken his silence following the violent attack on him and his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, releasing pictures and videos from his hospital bed and directly contradicting the police account of the incident.
The Sowore breaks silence Ekiti attack revelation, posted on his official X account on Friday evening, accused the Ekiti State Government House and the Department of State Services (DSS) of orchestrating the assault, and described the police’s characterization of the event as a mere “altercation” as despicable, ValidViewNetwork reports.
THE ALLEGATION
Sowore did not mince words in his statement. “This is the level of infamy to which Nigeria has been subjected! Those who brutally attacked us in Ado-Ekiti today came from the Government House @ekitistategov. They are well known, and they were provided with tracking and operational support by the @OfficialDSSNG,” he wrote.
He further alleged that the DSS had been trailing his team since their arrival in the state on Thursday.
“Since our arrival yesterday, DSS operatives have been trailing and harassing us. They even threatened the manager of the first place where we ate, warning him never to allow us to use his premises again,” he stated.
According to Sowore, the attack occurred shortly after he completed an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti.
“Today, shortly after I completed an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti, the thugs descended on us in a violent attack, allegedly with the assistance of the DSS,” he wrote.
THE CONTRADICTION WITH THE POLICE
Sowore’s account directly contradicts the Ekiti State Police Command’s version of events.
The police had earlier issued a statement claiming that Sowore was involved in an “altercation” with some individuals at a restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti, and that he was “rescued” by operatives.
The police also dismissed reports of a kidnapping and described Sowore’s injuries as “minor”.
Sowore rejected this characterization entirely.
“The Commissioner of @PoliceNG in Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, personally visited the scene of the brutal attack against us in Ado-Ekiti today. He saw firsthand the extensive injuries we sustained, yet he has the audacity to issue a despicable statement describing a coordinated, violent attack as a mere ‘altercation,'” Sowore wrote.
He added: “THERE WAS NO ALTERCATION! WE WERE ATTACKED! The Commissioner saw the injuries, witnessed the aftermath of the violence, and was fully aware of the seriousness of what happened. Yet his Command has chosen to trivialize the attack, even describing the injuries as ‘minor.’ No wonder allegations have emerged that the Commissioner of Police himself was involved. This is despicable! Video shows the CP leaving the emergency room after observing the extensive injuries”.
THE PICTURES AND VIDEOS
Sowore backed up his claims by releasing pictures and videos from the scene and from the hospital. The visuals showed the aftermath of the attack, including a vandalized restaurant with overturned tables and shattered chairs, and a campaign vehicle with a flat tyre .
Other images showed Sowore and members of his team receiving medical treatment, with visible injuries that contradicted the police’s description of them as “minor” .
THE CONFLICTING NARRATIVES
The incident has produced two starkly different accounts.
According to the police, Sowore had an altercation with individuals at a restaurant, was rescued by operatives, sustained minor injuries, and was receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Michael Falade, has ordered a discreet investigation.
According to Sowore, he was attacked by thugs from the Ekiti Government House, with the operational support of the DSS, after a radio interview. He was not rescued; he was brutalized. And the police are downplaying the severity of the attack to protect those responsible.

The attack on Sowore is not just an assault on a presidential candidate. It is an assault on the democratic process.
If a candidate can be attacked with impunity, if the police can trivialize the attack, and if the state security apparatus can be accused of complicity, then the 2027 election is already compromised.
Sowore has released the pictures and videos. He has named the Government House and the DSS. He has challenged the police to tell the truth.
The question now is whether the authorities will investigate his allegations or continue to protect those who attacked him. The pictures are out. The videos are out. The truth is no longer hidden.
