ABEOKUTA – In a strategic move to bolster the state’s internal revenue and improve grassroots connectivity, the Ogun State Executive Council has approved the immediate reconstruction and rehabilitation of seven major roads spanning the three senatorial districts.
The Council, presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun during its Friday session at the Executive Chambers in Oke-Mosan, also gave the green light for the completion of the long-abandoned Block E complex at the State Secretariat. The facility has been officially renamed “Revenue House” and is slated to become the central hub for the state’s revenue-generating agencies, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and centralizing tax administration.

Strategic Road Interventions
The approved road projects are designed to decongest high-traffic commercial zones and improve the ease of doing business. Key among the approvals is the 2.3km Molipa Expressway Roundabout to Ibadan Garage in Ijebu-Ode, which features a 10.3-meter width to accommodate heavy vehicular flow.
Other approved projects include:
- Bible College Road, Ota: Additional rehabilitation works to ease the perennial traffic in the industrial hub.
- Sagamu Interventions: Reconstruction of Ajaka Road via Awolowo Market (870m) and Gbadebo Street/Hospital Road in Ayegbami (900m).
- Ijebu-Ode/Ikenne Axis: Okenla Street (0.53km) and Yemogun Street in Ogere (1.25km).
- Abeokuta: Reconstruction of the right-hand side of the Carwash–Moore Junction road in Adatan.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, these projects are expected to “stimulate socio-economic activities and open up communities for increased residential investment.”
Strengthening Traditional Institutions
In a bid to maintain communal peace and uphold cultural heritage, the Council also ratified the appointments of five traditional rulers. Governor Abiodun emphasized that the traditional institution remains a vital partner in his administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda, particularly in the areas of security and grassroots intelligence.
The newly confirmed monarchs include:
- Prince Raheem Afolabi Ogunlaja – Nnoku of Iraye (Remo North LGA)
- Prince Tajudeen Adeoye Olukunle – Onisale of Isale, Gbokoto (Yewa North LGA)
- Prince Obajimi Sunday Olatunji – Alodo of Ado (Sagamu)
- Prince Dr. Adesegun Adedapo Ogunsola – Lowa Ibu of Batoro (Sagamu)
- Prince (Elder) Moses Oludotun Fadairo – Baale of Orile Oko
The meeting concluded with a charge to the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Works to ensure the “Revenue House” and the road projects are delivered within the stipulated contractual timelines to provide immediate relief to the citizens
