The Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, made his first church service attendance on Sunday at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church, Aremo, Ibadan, marking his second public appearance since his nomination as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The 89-year-old monarch, accompanied by his immediate family, friends, and associates, was welcomed with jubilation by congregants during the Sunday service.
Following his official nomination by the Olubadan-in Council on April 16, Oba Olakulehin’s name has been forwarded to the state government for possible confirmation as the next Olubadan.

The state of Oba Olakulehin’s health had previously been a topic of debate, with differing opinions from members of the Olubadan-in Council.
However, his attendance at the church service is seen as a gesture to demonstrate his fitness for the revered position.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Sumbo Owolabi confirmed that the Olubadan-designate attended the service at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church, Aremo, Ibadan.
A church member, commenting on the event, noted the joy among congregants at seeing Oba Olakulehin participate in worship, describing it as a positive sign of his improving health and ability to engage in public activities.
