In a major blow to rival street gangs and secret cults in Ogun State, law enforcement operatives have disrupted a major initiation ceremony in Isara-Remo, resulting in the arrest of 30 male suspects.
The coordinated raid, which took place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, was executed by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in tandem with detectives from the Isara Area Command and Isara Division.
The Raid and Arrests
Acting on actionable intelligence, the tactical team stormed an abandoned, uncompleted building where the suspects had gathered to conduct initiation rituals, drink heavily, and chant cult songs.
The police cordoned off the perimeter, swiftly neutralizing the gathering before the suspects could complete the initiation process.

Recovered Exhibits
Several items were abandoned at the scene as other members of the group attempted to flee the police dragnet. Officers successfully recovered:
- Four getaway vehicles
- One tactical jackknife
- Traditional instruments including a local drum and a sekere (rattle)
- Numerous bottles of alcoholic substances
The suspects have been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for rigorous interrogation. Police authorities confirm that they will face prosecution as soon as preliminary investigations are concluded, while a manhunt is actively underway to track down the fleeing accomplices.
CP Issues Stern Warning
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the tactical precision and professionalism of the arresting officers. He emphasized that the command will maintain its aggressive, intelligence-led crackdown on violent crimes, reiterating that cultism has no breeding ground in the state.
CP Ojajuni strongly urged existing cult members to renounce their memberships and criminality, warning that the law will always catch up with offenders.
The command has called on residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity via their toll-free Gateway Shield line (0800 000 9111) or emergency hotlines (0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706).
