AWKA – In a continued push for human capital development, the presidential hopeful of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Peter Obi, has donated N30 million to Paul University, Awka.
The visit, which took place over the weekend, marks a significant milestone in Obi’s long-standing relationship with the institution. Upon his arrival, he was received by the University’s proprietor, Archbishop Alexander Ibezim, along with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stella Okunna, and other members of the management team.
Addressing the university community, Obi expressed his satisfaction with the visible structural and academic improvements at the campus. He noted that his commitment to the institution remains unwavering, driven by the belief that education is the ultimate “engine room” for national transformation.
”Education remains the most reliable pathway to personal growth and national development. Each time I visit Paul University, I see progress. This donation is an investment in the future of these students and the stability of our nation,” Obi stated.
This latest contribution brings Obi’s cumulative financial support to Paul University to N80 million, following previous donations of N50 million. He specifically highlighted his interest in the institution’s new School of Nursing Sciences, emphasizing that health and education are the twin pillars of a productive society.

The donation comes amidst a broader philanthropic tour by the ADC chieftain. In the past month alone, Obi has extended similar grants to other institutions, including N30 million to Dominican University, Ibadan, and N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Mbano, bringing his total educational and health interventions to over N650 million across 11 states in the current calendar year.
As the 2027 political cycle approaches, Obi’s focus on grassroots development through private and missionary-led institutions continues to spark national conversation on the role of leadership in fostering educational excellence.
