LAGOS — Nigeria’s premier shot put powerhouse, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, has once again asserted his dominance on the global stage, securing a spectacular gold medal at the prestigious Znamensky Memorial track and field meet in Russia.
The African champion delivered a masterclass in field precision, effectively shutting down the competition with a powerhouse throw of 21.27 metres. The stellar mark proved insurmountable for the rest of the field, establishing an early gap that none of his international rivals could close throughout the event.
The podium highlighted a diverse international field, though Enekwechi remained comfortably in a league of his own. Mexico’s Juan Vazquez Gomez claimed the silver medal with a commendable effort of 20.13 metres, while Romania’s Andrei Rares Toader rounded out the top three, pocketing the bronze with a best throw of 20.02 metres.
