Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken a commanding position in the Osun governorship election, winning 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, has won 11 LGAs.
The latest collation figures show Adeleke ahead across much of the state as the Independent National Electoral Commission moves towards the formal declaration of the result.
The figures from the 30 LGAs show Adeleke securing 511,067 votes, compared with 444,815 votes for Oyebamiji, giving the Accord candidate a 66,252-vote advantage in the collated LGA figures.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress finished well behind the two leading candidates in the LGA results.
Adeleke’s strength cuts across Osun
The distribution of the victories is perhaps more revealing than the statewide margin.
Adeleke won Ede South with 26,188 votes, while Oyebamiji managed 6,219. In Ede North, the governor recorded 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283.
The incumbent also won Osogbo, taking 36,480 votes against the APC candidate’s 30,474.
In Ife East, Adeleke secured 27,201 votes against 18,600 for Oyebamiji.
He also carried Ife Central, Ife North, Ilesa West, Iwo, Ifelodun, Egbedore, Odo-Otin, Oriade and Ila, among other LGAs.
The pattern, however, was not one-sided.
Oyebamiji won Ilesa East, where he scored 16,208 votes against Adeleke’s 12,280. He also prevailed in Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Atakumosa East, Irewole, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
The result therefore reveals a clear geographical contest, but Adeleke’s 19-LGA spread has given him the stronger position.
The numbers tell a bigger story
The most striking feature of the result is not simply Adeleke’s lead. It is the fact that the incumbent has combined a statewide vote advantage with victories in 19 of 30 LGAs.
That gives him both numerical depth and geographical breadth.
The APC, meanwhile, has demonstrated significant strength in several areas, particularly in Irewole, Ilesa East, Boripe and Olorunda, where Oyebamiji recorded strong figures.
But those victories have not been enough to close the statewide gap. ValidViewNetwork reports that the 30-LGA figures give Adeleke 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815, placing the incumbent 66,252 votes ahead.
From polling units to the collation table
The result follows an election marked by intense scrutiny of polling-unit figures. Voters and party supporters remained around collation centres in several parts of the state, insisting that votes recorded at polling units must be faithfully reflected in the final result.
There were also tense incidents during the process. Gunshots were reported at the Ataoja D Ward 4 collation centre in Osogbo on Saturday night, while an officer was arrested following a tear-gas discharge at a Registration Area Centre in Modakeke.
Despite the disturbances, the collation process continued. The latest LGA figures now provide a much clearer picture of where the election stands.
Natasha congratulates Adeleke
The growing expectation around the outcome has also produced early congratulatory messages. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan posted a congratulatory message to Adeleke on Facebook, writing:
“Congratulations H.E. Adeleke. Congratulations Osun State.”
Her message came before INEC formally declared the winner. It therefore reflects the growing expectation surrounding the incumbent’s performance but does not replace the official declaration.
There have also been reports of a possible congratulatory telephone call from President Bola Tinubu to Adeleke. However, ValidViewNetwork has not independently established official confirmation of that alleged call, and it is therefore not being presented as a confirmed presidential communication.
The final word remains with INEC
Adeleke’s position is now considerably stronger.
He has won 19 LGAs to Oyebamiji’s 11 and holds a substantial statewide vote advantage in the collated figures.
But the election is not legally concluded until INEC’s Returning Officer completes the statutory process and announces the winner.
For now, the numbers have produced a clear picture.
Ademola Adeleke is ahead. He has won more LGAs. He has more votes in the current collation.
And the gap separating him from Bola Oyebamiji remains substantial.
