In a startling development that has sent ripples through the Nigerian security apparatus, a Nepali national has come forward with grave allegations of being defrauded of ₦1.6 billion in a transaction he claims was facilitated within the confines of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters in Abuja.

The victim, whose ordeal has been brought to public attention by social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, detailed a narrative that challenges the perceived sanctity of the nation’s highest police facility. According to the victim, his confidence in the legitimacy of the business transaction was anchored primarily in the location of the meetings and the explicit endorsements he allegedly received from law enforcement personnel.

A Setting of Perceived Security

The victim asserted that the meetings concerning the multi-billion naira deal were held inside a conference room within the Force Headquarters. He explained that the official environment, combined with the visible presence of armed officers and staff in full uniform, effectively neutralized any initial skepticism he might have harbored regarding the legitimacy of the venture.

Allegations Against Senior Officers

The most damning aspect of the account involves the alleged involvement of a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). The victim claims that during a critical juncture of the negotiation, the officer in question provided verbal assurances, characterizing the individual he was paying as a legitimate businessman and explicitly stating that the transaction was safe to proceed.

Relying on the institutional authority implied by the officer’s rank and the high-profile setting of the meeting, the victim moved forward with the transaction, only to realize later that he had been defrauded of a staggering ₦1.6 billion.

Institutional Implications

This report raises urgent questions regarding security protocols and the potential for the abuse of office within Nigeria’s premier law enforcement institution. The use of a government facility to allegedly validate a private commercial transaction—and the reported involvement of a senior officer—suggests a severe breach of procedure that demands immediate investigation.

As of this writing, the Nigeria Police Force has not yet issued an official statement regarding the veracity of these claims. However, legal experts suggest that if these allegations are substantiated, the incident could lead to a massive internal inquiry into how civilian business dealings are conducted within police facilities and the extent to which officers may be compromised by private interests.

The public and the international community are now looking to the police hierarchy to provide clarity on this matter and to demonstrate a commitment to transparency, particularly given the potential damage to Nigeria’s image as a destination for foreign investment.
