
A 35-year-old hunter, Nurudeen Agboola, has been brought before an Akure Magistrate’s Court over the alleged killing of a man, Pelumi Chibuezie, in Ondo Town, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, told the court that the incident happened on April 2, 2026, around 5:00 p.m. at Olosan Camp, Ondo Town. He alleged that the defendant shot the victim in the back with a gun, leading to his death at the scene.
According to the prosecution, the offence violates Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Oniyere asked the court to remand the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Defence counsel, G.O. Falana, did not oppose the remand application but requested permission to file counter-affidavits.
Magistrate Olusola Olujobi adjourned the case to May 18, 2026, for hearing of the remand application and ordered that the defendant remain in police custody pending the filing of the defence processes.
