Toxicology Unveils Tragic End: Forensic Report Confirms Destiny Boy Died of Drug Overdose

​​ABEOKUTA — New forensic details have emerged surrounding the tragic passing of the popular Afro-Fuji sensation, Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy. An autopsy report released by the Ogun State Police Command has officially linked the singer’s death to the ingestion of a lethal cocktail of synthetic drugs.

​According to the findings submitted by the Consultant Anatomic Pathologist, toxicology results performed on the 22-year-old singer’s remains revealed “harmful levels” of tramadol and its metabolites, alongside high concentrations of methamphetamine.

​The medical report concludes that the primary cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis—a condition where the lungs become inflamed due to the inhalation of foreign material, often occurring when an individual vomits while unconscious or semi-conscious. This condition was triggered by the severe physiological reaction to the toxic substances found in his system.

​While initial reports from family members suggested the singer had been battling a long-term illness involving seizures, the forensic evidence now shifts the focus toward accidental or intentional drug toxicity. The official date of death has been recorded as January 17, 2026.

​The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed that the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has been leading the probe. Following the release of the toxicology results, security forces have intensified their investigation into how the singer accessed the controlled substances.
