JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. — Newly released police bodycam footage captures a disoriented and lethargic Tiger Woods following a rollover crash on March 27, 2026. The 15-time major champion, who celebrated his 50th birthday in December, is seen struggling to remain awake in the back of a patrol car after his Land Rover SUV clipped a truck and flipped onto its side.
The Crash and Arrest
The incident occurred mid-afternoon on South Beach Road when Woods attempted to overtake a Ford F-150 towing a pressure washer trailer. According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Woods crossed the double yellow line and clipped the trailer as the truck slowed to turn.
”I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden… boom!” Woods is heard telling officers in the footage. While his vehicle sustained heavy damage and came to rest on its driver’s side, Woods was able to crawl out through the passenger window. He reported no injuries, and the driver of the truck was also unharmed.
Evidence of Impairment
While a roadside breathalyzer test returned a 0.00% blood-alcohol content, Deputy Tatiana Levenar noted that Woods appeared “lethargic, sweaty, and unsteady.” His pupils were dilated, and his speech was slurred. During a search, officers recovered two white pills from his pocket, which Woods identified as Norco, a powerful opioid painkiller containing hydrocodone.
The bodycam video further shows Woods nodding off repeatedly during the 15-minute transport to the station. He has been charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a urine test, the latter of which is now a misdemeanor under updated Florida law.
A History of Struggles
This marks the third major vehicle incident for the golf icon. Woods was famously injured in a high-speed 2021 rollover in Los Angeles and was previously arrested for a DUI in 2017 involving a “bad mix” of prescription medications.
Woods, who has undergone over 20 surgeries on his legs and back throughout his career, was released on bail eight hours after his arrest. His representatives have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the charges.
