EDO STATE’S war on cultism hit a breakthrough in the early hours of Wednesday as police operatives stormed Uromi, arresting four suspected “Eiye” members and seizing an arsenal of high-grade weaponry.
The tactical raid, which took place at approximately 2:00 AM on March 24, 2026, targeted several hideouts in Uromi, Edo Central. Operatives acting on “credible intelligence” successfully neutralized a suspected cult cell, recovering four English pump-action guns and a cache of ammunition.

The suspects, ranging in age from young recruits to older associates, were identified by Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, as:
1.Solomon Oboigbe (27), of Ewoyi Quarters.
2.Fidelis Omale (26), of Atani.
3.Julius Oseyomon (64), of Atani.
4.Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), of Eco Obedo.
Beyond the firearms, police recovered nine live cartridges and three expended shells. Preliminary findings suggest the group is affiliated with the notorious Eiye Confraternity.
Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, hailed the operation as a victory for the state’s “zero-tolerance” policy. The arrest comes amid a broader state-wide strategy that includes the demolition of properties used for cult activities and the enforcement of recently toughened anti-cultism laws.
”We are committed to mopping up illegal firearms and ensuring that every corner of Edo State is safe from the scourge of violent secret societies,” Agbonika stated, urging residents to remain vigilant. The suspects are expected to face arraignment following the conclusion of a full investigation into their supply chain for the English-made weapons.
