Bauchi, Bauchi State – In a significant swoop, operatives of the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended 32 suspected internet fraudsters on Friday, July 25, 2025. The arrests were made in the Sabon Kaura and Gwalameji areas of Bauchi, the state capital, acting on credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in online fraudulent activities.
The operation, aimed at curbing the rising tide of cybercrime, led to the recovery of numerous items believed to have been acquired through illicit means. These include nine Samsung mobile phones, 15 iPhones, one Infinix phone, three Redmi phones, two iPads, and eight laptop computers. In addition, law enforcement seized a Peugeot 406 car, two PlayStation 4 consoles, one PlayStation 5 console, four Neonx Auto bikes, one Maxi E50KWH generator, and one pistol.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation. The EFCC has stated that they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded. This arrest underscores the EFCC’s commitment to tackling financial crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice across the nation.
