The Lagos State Government is putting finishing touches to distribute 100,000 packs of food to residents of the state free.
The food packs will consist of items such as Indomie, garri and rice that can feed a family for a number of meals.
The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced this as part of measures being taken by the state government to tackle the hardship being faced by Nigerians.
In an ongoing live interview, Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said he has reached out to some of his friends to assist with doing this.
He revealed that the government will also make its Farmers Market weekly until further notice.
The Farmers Market in Lagos State connects farmers directly with buyers, thereby lowering the cost of food items.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the state government will also encourage Lagosians to have small farms in their homes to reduce pressure on their finances.
He said inside the Lagos House in Marina, there is a fish pond where fishing is going on and thriving.
He said there are vegetable nurseries and others.
The interview, being broadcast live on TVC, Arise TV, Channels TV and Lagos Television was ongoing as at press time.
