She will be in our hearts and thoughts foreever- family of schoolgirl, 11, who died after fall in bathroom

The family of a “beautiful” 11-year-old schoolgirl who died after hitting her head has paid tribute. Falaq Babar, from Rochdale in Greater Manchester, suffered a fatal head injury after fainting in her bathroom last year. An inquest into her tragic death was opened by coroner Catherine McKenna on Tuesday. 

Devastated by the death of the beautiful girl, the family told Manchester Evening News they “cherished her” and that she “will always stay in our hearts and thoughts forever”.

Her mum, Shazia Bi, said: “How lucky we were to have Falaq in our lives for a short time, but she has left us with so many memories and love.

“We all cherished her, and she will always stay in our hearts and thoughts forever.”

The young girl died in hospital on March 18 last year, weeks after the accident.

Police coroner’s officer Mr Tracy Bunn told the inquest Falaq was taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital by her parents after the 11-year-old was “complaining of feeling unwell”.

Ms Bunn said: “She began to vomit and became unresponsive.”

Doctors conducted a CT scan on Falaq and she was given emergency surgery but passed away, the court head.

Falaq’s mum, Ms Bi, added in her tribute: “Mum, dad, and brother will never forget you. We as a family cannot come to terms with the loss of such a beautiful soul. We love you, Falaq.”

Forensic pathologist Dr Philip Lumb labelled the provisional cause of death as hypnotic anoxic brain injury.

Coroner McKenna said: “I am here this morning to open the inquest into the death of a young girl. I am really sorry you have lost your daughter this way.”
