27-Year-Old Sentenced to 7 Years Behind Bars for Brutal Defilement of 8-Year-Old Girl in Minna!

​MINNA — A Niger State High Court sitting in Minna has sentenced a 27-year-old man, Hussaini Suleiman, to seven years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the horrific rape of an eight-year-old minor.

​The presiding judge, Hon. Justice Binta Bawa, handed down the sentence following a swift prosecution that underscored the growing collaboration between security agencies and child protection bodies in the state.

​According to court filings and statements released by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the abominable act took place at the convict’s private residence, situated directly behind the Prison Quarters in Minna.

​The wheels of justice began turning on April 16, 2026, when the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) intercepted reports of the assault. Recognizing the gravity of the crime and the jurisdiction regarding vulnerable persons, the NSCDC swiftly transferred the case file to the NAPTIP Niger State Command for comprehensive investigation.

​Investigators built an airtight case against Suleiman, who ultimately confessed to the crime. He was subsequently formally arraigned on a heavily-prosecuted charge sheet before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court. Facing overwhelming evidence and the weight of his confession, Suleiman entered a guilty plea during the court session, prompting the judge to deliver the custodial sentence.
