The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two fleeing members of a notorious seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to a brutal kidnap and murder case in Edo State.
The suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu (25) and Muhammed Sanni (20), were flushed out of their hideout in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode by security operatives.
From Forest Apprehension to Police Crackdown
The breakthrough began on June 4, 2026, when personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service initially intercepted the two men following suspicious movements. They were subsequently handed over to the Ogun State Police Command for deep profiling.
Detectives from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit took over the case, utilizing intelligence-driven inquiries to unmask the true identities and criminal backgrounds of the duo.
During the arrest, police operatives recovered critical exhibits, including:
- One pair of Police camouflage uniform (often used by bandits to deceive unsuspecting motorists)
- Three mobile phones containing vital intelligence
Transfer of Jurisdiction
Preliminary investigations quickly established that Adamu and Sanni were high-profile fugitives wanted by the Edo State Police Command for a recent, deadly kidnapping incident in the Okada area of Edo State.
Because the primary crimes—kidnapping and murder—were committed outside Ogun State, authorities are preparing to transfer the suspects eastward.
”In line with established inter-state policing procedures and existing collaboration among State Police Commands, the suspects and all recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which has primary jurisdiction over the matter,” the Command stated.
Police Reassure Public on Safe Havens
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, highly commended the professionalism and intelligence-gathering capabilities of the tracking team. He issued a stern warning to inter-state criminals, declaring that Ogun State will never be allowed to become a safe haven or transit point for underworld actors.
