
LAGOS – In a significant move to bridge the gap between modern administrative record-keeping and centuries-old traditional governance, a high-powered delegation from the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) paid a courtesy visit to the newly installed White Cap Chiefs of Lagos on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The visit, led by the recently appointed Director-General of LASRAB, Mr. Amodu Razaak, served as both an act of traditional homage and a strategic outreach to ensure that the oral and physical histories of the Lagos indigenous institutions are professionally preserved.

Honoring the Custodians of Heritage
The delegation was received by the elite Council of White Cap Chiefs, whose members were recently installed by the Oba of Lagos, HRM Oba Rilwan Akiolu. Addressing the traditional rulers, Mr. Razaak emphasized that the White Cap chieftaincy is not just a title but the bedrock of the state’s identity.

“Your elevation reflects a noble lineage and a deep-seated commitment to the preservation of Lagosian tradition,” the Director-General stated. “These offices symbolize continuity, truth, and loyalty to the land. Our goal is to ensure that the legacy you represent is documented for generations yet unborn.”
