Troops from Operation Hadin Kai arrested a 65-year-old woman suspected of supplying drugs to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State. The operation highlights efforts to disrupt insurgent support networks in Nigeria’s northeast.
Arrest Details
On January 23, 2026, soldiers acting on intelligence raided Askira Uba Local Government Area during Operation Desert Sanity V. They detained Hauwa Abulazeez, accused of providing cannabis sativa to Boko Haram fighters in areas like Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu, and Gaya. Troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of the drug, totaling about 30 kilograms.
Supply Network Exposed
Investigations show Abulazeez sourced the cannabis from Sarti Baruwa in Taraba State and used established routes to distribute it across the northeast theatre. She allegedly served as a key conduit for the substance, aiding terrorists and criminal groups. The military views this as a critical hit against logistics fueling insurgency violence.
Ongoing Probe and Impact
Abulazeez remains in custody for preliminary questioning as troops pursue wider trafficking links. Officials say such arrests weaken Boko Haram by cutting illicit supply chains that sustain operations. Lieutenant Colonel Sanni Uba, Operation Hadin Kai spokesman, stressed commitment to intelligence-led actions for regional stability.
