ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Friday, November 6, for a high-stakes, two-state political tour across the South-South region, touching down first in Akwa Ibom State before heading to Rivers State to galvanize support for his 2027 presidential re-election bid.
The two-day working visit is designed to blend governance with aggressive political consolidation, featuring the official commissioning of multi-billion-naira legacy infrastructure projects alongside major All Progressives Congress (APC) mega-rallies.
Akwa Ibom Leg: Infrastructure Commissioning and Public Holiday
President Tinubu’s itinerary opens in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where he will be received by Governor Umo Eno. In a bid to ensure an enthusiastic and massive public turnout for the Commander-in-Chief, Governor Eno has officially declared Friday a work-free day across the state.
At the heart of the Uyo visit is the inspection and formal commissioning of several landmark infrastructural achievements executed by the state administration. The scheduled projects are heavily concentrated around the aviation, healthcare, and urban renewal sectors, prominently featuring:
- The New International Terminal Building at the Victor Attah International Airport.
- The International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, aimed at bolstering medical tourism and aviation support services.
- The Airport-Okopedi Road spanning Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas.
- Ring Road 3, a critical arterial route linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.
- The AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the state Command and Control Centre, and the expansive ARISE Palm Resort.
Following the project unveilings, the President will address a major political gathering, engaging directly with regional stakeholders, party executives, and grassroots supporters to preach national unity and strategic development.
Rivers Leg: APC Mega Rally and Stakeholder Engagements
On Saturday, November 7, President Tinubu will transition to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to headline a high-profile All Progressives Congress (APC) rally.
This stop marks his third major regional campaign appearance since officially flagging off his nationwide re-election drive in Kaduna last month. Party insiders note that the Port Harcourt visit serves as a crucial strategic anchor to shore up support, align party structures, and project a unified front within the South-South geopolitical zone ahead of the 2027 polls.
Throughout the tour, the presidency is expected to emphasize continuity, infrastructural delivery, and a shared commitment to national economic progress, drawing lines of collaboration across party divides in the region.
