WHY IT MATTERS
Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder that affects red blood cells. It causes episodes of severe pain, organ damage, and in some cases, premature death.
In Nigeria, it is estimated that over 150,000 children are born with sickle cell disease every year.
Many of them do not live to see their fifth birthday.
Oluwadamilare was 300-level student. He had dreams. He had a future. And now, he is gone.
His death is a reminder of the fragility of life and the need for better awareness, screening, and care for those living with sickle cell disease. The FUNAAB community mourns. And the nation should too. ValidViewNetwork reports.
