An American Airlines flight attendant has been arrested for allegedly exploiting her employee travel perks to orchestrate a complex sweepstakes fraud against an elderly Florida woman.
Destiny Blake, a 24-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York, was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Miami International Airport following a warrant issued by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators state that the scheme began in November 2025 when Blake allegedly contacted a 75-year-old resident of Palm Coast, Florida, posing as a representative of Publishers Clearing House. The victim was falsely told she had won a major contest, but was required to send an initial $500 gift card to a Brooklyn address to initiate the claim.
According to court documents, the victim was subsequently locked out of her email account, which was replaced with a spoofed look-alike address. Between November 15 and November 19, 2025, the senior citizen withdrew upwards of $14,000, with Blake collecting roughly $14,220 in cash and electronic transfers.
Authorities revealed that Blake used her airline flight benefits to fly standby from New York to Daytona Beach on November 18, 2025. Utilizing rideshare services, she visited the victim’s residence the following morning, where detectives believe she gathered crucial credit card and personal identity details.
Investigators discovered that Blake subsequently added herself as an authorized user on the victim’s account, securing an independent Apple Card. A search of the victim’s home also uncovered a note directing anyone inquiring to treat Blake as the victim’s granddaughter with full account privileges.
Over an extended span of weeks, Blake allegedly ran up thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges across 88 separate transactions. The stolen funds reportedly financed luxury goods, high-end electronics, apparel, hair salon visits, and food deliveries, alongside international purchases made during work-related travels.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly condemned the exploitation of employee privileges, noting that while flight attendants typically use travel benefits to explore the world, Blake leveraged hers to target a vulnerable senior.
Blake faces serious charges including grand theft, fraudulent use of personal identification, and operating an organized scheme to defraud. She was booked into the Miami-Dade County jail before being released on a $30,000 bond pending extradition to Flagler County. Law enforcement emphasizes that the charges remain allegations and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
