MTN MoMo Taps Ex-Flutterwave COO Abifarin as CEO

​MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB), the fintech subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, has officially named digital payments veteran Bode Abifarin as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.

​Abifarin steps into the executive seat with over two decades of multifaceted experience spanning financial services, management consulting, strategic operations, and business transformation. She most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of Flutterwave, where she was instrumental in steering the company’s multi-market expansion, building robust operating frameworks, and managing vital regulatory relationships. Prior to her impactful tenure in the tech ecosystem, she spent 15 years at KPMG, rising to the position of Associate Director in Management Consulting to advise leading corporate institutions across Africa.

​The high-profile appointment coincides with a pivotal restructuring phase for MTN’s financial services architecture in Nigeria. It follows recent strategic maneuvers by MTN Nigeria to consolidate its fintech footprint, positioning the payment service bank to aggressively scale its digital offerings, enhance security frameworks, and deepen financial inclusion for underserved demographics.

Serigne Dioum, CEO of MTN Group Fintech, lauded Abifarin’s blend of operational execution and deep market expertise, while Michael Ajukwu, Chairman of the MoMo PSB Board, emphasized that her background in stakeholder engagement and digital innovation makes her uniquely suited to guide the institution into its next chapter.
