Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, has confirmed his marriage to Pastor Mo Jasmine, introducing her to his congregation during a Sunday service in Ilupeju, Lagos.
The Mo Jasmine confirmation comes a day after the cleric hinted at a new beginning by sharing a photograph of two hands wearing rings, ValidViewNetwork reports.
THE UNVEILING
Odukoya invited his new wife onto the altar and introduced her to the congregation.
“You know, the Bible said it is not good, it said I will find someone suitable. When Adam saw, he said this is the flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone, I was looking and searching, and I found. Some of you saw the post, some people said is it artwork, no it’s my wife; allow me to introduce to you for the first time, Pastor Mrs. Odukoya, a new first lady, my wife. Pastor Mo Odukoya,” he said.
His new wife, Ms Jasyme, expressed her delight at being in the church.”Good morning, family. It’s my pleasure and honour to be here and stand alongside my husband. The senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church,” she said.
THE CONTEXT
The marriage marks a new chapter in Odukoya’s personal life following the end of his previous marriage to Oluwakemi Sade Banjoko.
The former couple got married in London in March 2013 and had two children together before their separation.
His new wife, Ms Jasyme, is a designer and creative entrepreneur who previously married British-Nigerian record producer Mosadoluwa Adegboye, known as itsMOSA.
The circumstances surrounding her divorce from Mr Adegboye remain unclear .
WHY IT MATTERS
Jimmy Odukoya is not just a pastor. He is a former Nollywood actor, the son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, and a public figure whose life has been lived, in part, under the scrutiny of the congregation his father built.
His decision to introduce his new wife on the altar, in front of the church, is a statement of transparency. He did not hide the relationship. He did not announce it through a press release.
He stood beside her and said, “This is my wife.”
